‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ production set to begin in Georgia, ‘Thor Ragnarok’ to film there next
James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy became a huge success for Marvel Studios and will be returning to helm Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, with much of the main cast returning as well. Gunn has turned to social media to tease fans, letting them know the second film is set to begin filming, this time in Georgia.
In Gunn’s last update, given via a Twitter Q&A, he once again reiterated that neither Captain Marvel nor The Hulk will be making an appearance in his sequel, and the number of other additional characters will be kept small.
Gunn kept the identity of these new characters quiet, but Gunn did announce on Facebook that he is heading off to Atlanta to begin pre-production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.
Gunn also revealed that the length of production will be ten months in all, including pre-production and filming.
Gunn has revealed previously, will not commence until February. Instead, according to one of Gunn’s comments on the post, he and the crew will spend the next few months building “the giant sets” that will form the backdrop of the Guardians’ next adventure.
Atlanta has become the go-to place for shooting Marvel movies lately.
Both Ant-Man and Captain America: Civil War previously filmed there, and Thor 3 will also be filming there directly after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. utilizing the state-of-the-art facilities and loads of space to work at the new Pinewood Studios Atlanta.
Gunn has stated that either December or January would still be too early to reveal any of the new characters or plot details.
The cast of Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and voices of Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel are all set to return.
Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is set to drop on May 5 2017 with Thor: Ragnarok opening November 3 2017.
