‘Guardians of the Galaxy 2’ begins production
Down in Atlanta, Georgia, director James Gunn has officially begun production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, a highly anticipated film after the massive success of the first Guardians film.
Gunn turned to his Instagram and Facebook accounts with a post from the set of the sequel, showing off a new production title logo.
Here’s what James Gunn posted to Instagram with a photo: “In the words of the great poet David Coverdale, Here I go again. #GotGVol2”
Some fans are questioning if that is a reference to the Whitesnake song “Here I Go Again” a hint that the song might be on the soundtrack for the sequel.
Either way, expect the music to take center stage as Vin Diesel confirmed there will be more dancing.
“Hey, the sequel, like the first movie, contains dancing!” Oh, no. During the course of the video, Diesel (according to ComicBook.com) jammed out to Meghan Trainor’s “Better When I’m Dancin’,” decided that itis true that things are better when you’re dancing, and then noted “It’s ironic, because dancing is such a big part of this Guardians of the Galaxy script.”
Diesel also praised Gunn’s abilities as a writer and director, getting Diesel excited about his three words of dialogue all over again.
“I can see why my son is so excited about this. James Gunn is such a great writer. I read this script and I go, ‘You’re a great director, and you’re this good a writer too.’ No wonder Marvel is so excited about what you’re doing. No wonder Marvel can’t wait to see Guardians of the Galaxy 2. Yeah, it’s one of those page turners, you cannot put the script down.”
Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Michael Rooker are also all expected back, reprising their roles from the first film. Kurt Russell is rumored to be joining as Star-Lord’s father and Josh Brolin’s Thanos may begin to play a key role.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is filming now, and we’ll get to see it in theaters on May 5, 2017.
