Guardians of the Galaxy 2′ ‘Avatar 2’ ‘Star Trek 4’ star Zoe Saldana says Trump ‘bullyied’ by Hollywood, calls for unity
In sharp contrast with the liberal bias of Hollywood, Avatar star Zoe Saldana spoke out against the celebrities and their bullying of Donald Trump.
“We got cocky and became arrogant and we also became bullies,” the Star Trek Beyond star stated. “We were trying to single out a man for all these things he was doing wrong… and that created empathy in a big group of people in America that felt bad for him and that are believing in his promises.”
Another unlikely voice was that of Nicole Kidman, who BBC’s “Victoria Derbyshire” show this week it was time Americans got behind Trump.
“I just say he’s now elected and we as a country need to support whoever’s the president because that’s what the country’s based on. However that happened, he’s there, and let’s go,” Kidman said.
Saldana, who plays a Cuban gangster’s moll in Ben Affleck’s prohibition era gangster movie Live by Night, spoke against Hollywood bias previously.
“I’m learning from (Trump’s victory) with a lot of humility,” the Guardians of the Galaxy star said, “If we have people continue to be strong and educate ourselves and stand by equal rights and treat everyone with respect, we won’t go back to those times.”
Saldana, born in the United States to Puerto Rican and Dominican parents, grew up in New York before moving to the Dominican Republic at the age of 10 when her father was killed in a car crash.
The actress doesn’t fit any of the pre-conceived stereotypes of Hollywood liberals, Hispanic voters or a woman — none of them support Trump is your subscribe to the talking heads in the media establishment.
Saldana will continue her Sci-fi reign, returning as Gamora for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 on May 5, 2017. Director James Cameron is reportedly putting together three new Avatar films, will the first sequel currently set for December 18, 2018.
There is only preliminary talks about a fourth Star Trek film with the rebooted cast, but expect something concrete in the next year or so.
