Government Shutdown: AMBER alert website down, Michelle Obama’s ‘Let’s Move’ up and running

The official website of the AMBER Alert program has been taken offline, due to the federal government shutdown.

Amber Alert website down government shutdown“Due to the lapse in federal funding, this Office of Justice Programs (OJP) website is unavailable,” a message greeting visitors now reads on the website.

Critics haven’t determined exactly when the site went offline, but now are noting Michelle Obama’s website for her “Let’s Move” campaign is still up, running and fully functional.

“If George W. Bush shut down the Amber Alert system for a political stunt, there would be a 24/7 TV marathon of screaming fury,” tweeted Rick Wilson @RickWilson.

“Probably not a super idea for the Administration to temporarily disable the Amber Alert system,” tweeted Jeffrey Goldberg @JeffreyGoldberg.

The AMBER Alert program is a voluntary partnership between law-enforcement and broadcasters that issues urgent bulletins following cases of child abductions.

The President has stated that he won’t negotiate on the budget, Obamacare funding and possible cuts in spending until the shutdown is ended and the debt ceiling is ended.

    Brandon Jones,

SIR, THANKS FOR PROVING MY POINT – THIS “IS” A CONSERVATIVE WEBSITE.

Mr. Jones, DO YOU R-E-A-L-L-Y BELIEVE IF A CHILD WAS MISSING, THE PUBLIC – IN THAT PARTICULAR STATE – WOULD NOT BE INFORMED? IN MEMPHIS, LOCAL NEWS TALKS ABOUT MISSING CHILDREN; IN TENNESSEE, THE HIGHWAYS HAVE NEON SIGNS ON SHOULDERS-OF-THE-ROAD ABOUT MISSING CHILDREN. [Since Memphis is a “transportation hub,” notice would also appear in Arkansas, Mississippi and “bootheel-” Missouri].

IN 2013, OLDER PEOPLE SEEM TO BE THE ONLY ONES WHO VALUE THE “PRECIOUSNESS” OF CHILDREN. YOUNGER ADULTS SEEM TO VIEW CHILDREN AS PAWNS FOR OBTAINING WELFARE ENTITLEMENTS. [Think about all of the males in jail for non-payment of child-support; after their release, do you think these fathers RUN HOME to their children?].

Mr. Jones, YOU ALSO PROVE MY POINT ABOUT THE KENYAN’S DESIRE TO CREATE A “positive” future-history BY YOUR MENTION OF Michelle’s initiative.

MY POINT IS, Mr. Jones, YOUR ARTICLE WANTS TO “PULL ON THE HEART-STRINGS” OF PEOPLE WHOSE NUMBERS ARE DIMINISHING, DAILY.

    CHRISTOPHER ALLEN HORTON
