‘Gotham’ adds Chris Chalk as Lucius Fox, Jada Pinkett Smith out for season 2

Gotham has cast Chris Chalk in the role of Lucius Fox heading into the final four episodes of season one and star Jada Pinkett Smith sounds pretty certain her character, Fish Mooney, will not be back in season 2

12 Years a Slave actor Chris Chalk will play the DC character in the Fox drama series, appearing in the penultimate episode of the first season and likely returning in season two. Lucius Fox appears in the Batman comics as Bruce Wayne’s business manager and the CEO of Wayne Enterprises. He supposedly unknowingly runs the business interests that supply the superhero’s equipment needs.

In other casting news, Jada Pinkett Smith has said that she is unlikely to return as crime boss Fish Mooney next season.

“I signed for a year, and the year is up,” the actress told ABC’s daytime  Live With Kelly & Michael.

When pressed if she was returning, she added coyly, “I don’t think so,” triggering an onslaught of rumors, mostly assuming Fish dies.

“I did my year and I had a good time,” she similarly told Extra’s AJ Calloway on Friday, and suggested Fish fans keep watching because, “the show is going to have an awesome finale!”

Gotham returns with four more episodes on April 13, 2015.

    ::spoiler alert::

    As good of an actress as JPS is, I’ll be glad to see Fish go as a character. The current subplot with the Dollmaker is just awkward and makes you hate her after having thought that she might have a heart. What’s worse, however, is that the failure to lead the prisoners out of the basement by force and her rash action in removing her own eye only make sense if she knew facts that were only revealed after her actions, such as the inescapable location of the hospital on the island and the fact that she would just get an eye transplant so easily.
