‘Glee’ star, Cory Monteith, found dead in Vancouver hotel
The 31-year-old “Glee” heartthrob was tragically found dead in a Vancouver hotel room Saturday, according to an US Weekly report today.
According to Vancouver PD, emergency personnel arrived at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, Canada shortly after noon, at which point Monteith was pronounced dead on the scene by paramedics. The coroner is investigating cause of death. Foul play is not suspected.
“We are so saddened to confirm that the reports on the death of Cory Monteith are accurate,” the actor’s rep said in a statement to Us Weekly shortly after news broke of the tragedy. “We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss.”
CNN reports that Monteith apparently had several people over to his room at one point Friday night, but acting Chief Constable Doug LePard said Monteith, who had checked in July 6, was seen on hotel surveillance video returning to his room in the early morning hours by himself.
Monteith had recently completed treatment for substance addiction, according to the US Weekly report.
Glee producers made the following statement on the show’s Facebook page this morning:
We are deeply saddened by this tragic news. Cory was an exceptional talent and an even more exceptional person. He was a true joy to work with and we will all miss him tremendously. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.
Monteith was best known for playing Finn Hudson on Glee, but he also had roles in Final Destination 3 and Monte Carlo.
