‘Ghostbusters’ reboot to draw from ‘Walking Dead’ says director
Ghostbusters director Paul Feig may surprise fans with an all-female cast and now states that the new film will have “inspirations” from AMC’s hit show, The Walking Dead.
Speaking on AMC’s Talking Dead Feig said “I will say, I was very inspired by this show. What I love is how they play with the danger, they play with the scariness, but also the idea that it’s always about gauntlet run. And that’s something, an element I want to bring to this Ghostbusters reboot is having to get through these various obstacles that are supernatural and all that. I really feed off of The Walking Dead.”
The original Ghostbusters was void of any major action scenes, and it sounds like Feig wants his version to have something a little more fast-paced and intense.
Collider notes that this also ties into Feig’s previous comments about wanting the reboot to be scarier.
“If you take that approach and envision Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy running around and firing off their proton packs that could be a nice blend of action and comedy. We’re getting a new Ghostbusters, and if it wants to be more than ‘the one with the women’, then this is a good direction to go.”
Ghostbusters opens July 22, 2016, and also stars Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon.
