‘Ghostbusters 3’ News: Oscar a Ghostbuster, Dan Aykroyd involved with script

ghostbusters_movie_image cast photoVarious outlets have pieced together different bits on Ghostbusters 3, which is moving ahead, likely without Bill Murray. Most of the cast is back and star Sigourney Weaver only made one requirement.

Weaver revealed in her interview with Vanity Fair that while speaking with Ivan Reitman about the film, she said: “I said, I have one condition want my son Oscar [from Ghostbusters II] to be a Ghostbuster, and he said, ‘We’ve already done that.’”

Collider collected some bits from screenwriter Etan Cohen, who says that he and Reitman are, “together for hours every week, working on it really closely,” while also revealing that Dan Aykroyd is overseeing the writing process.

Rick Moranis speculated on just where Louis Tully might be now: “He’s in prison, a cellmate of Bernie Madoff’s. They compete to see who can make their bed first in the morning.”

Ernie Hudson hopes that Winston Zeddemore has become, “the C.E.O. of the Ghostbusters franchise. I just hope that he wouldn’t be on a walker or [in] a wheelchair. And hopefully we’ll still be able to wear the backpacks.”

Bill Murray has been the most vocal opponent to doing the film and the passing of Harold Ramis seemed to be another added negative, but not everyone agrees. Collider discussed that The LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller were rumored to be asked to direct the film and they talked about the fan reaction.

Collider:  Were you asked to direct Ghostbusters 3?

PHIL LORD:  Rumors are things that are crazy.

CHRIS MILLER:  All I’ll say is that we love Sony, and I think there’s a lot of hate out there, online, for Ghostbusters.  I don’t understand it.

LORD:  I think it’s misplaced.  The idea that there might be another one should be exciting to people.  It’s exciting to us.

MILLER:  If our careers prove anything, it’s that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover.  There’s often a good way to do things.  And that’s such a great concept and tone that I can’t believe people are so negative about it.

I might be in the minority, but I’m totally on board for another Ghostbusters movie done right.  The real time between the last one and the new one—

MILLER:  A continuation, much like how 21 Jump Street acknowledges the previous existence of the 21 Jump Street TV show.
