Gerard Butler on ‘Wetten dass’ TV in Spain, breaking a walnut with his butt and pouring down his pants

Gerard Butler got a reminder that TV is a bit different in Europe as he was promoting Olympus has Fallen.

'Wetten, dass..?' Summer Edition From MallorcaThe 300 star joined in the antics on the show Wetten, dass..? in Mallorca, Spain.

(Broadcast in German even though it tours Europe)

After cracking a walnut with his butt, the actor poured some ice down his pants.

Celebrity gossip and paparazzi seem all the rage in the US, but Spain appears to find a different to entertain themselves with Hollywood stars.

The Spanish show, translated as ‘Wanna Bet That?’ is the most successful Saturday television show in Europe. The core “gimmick” of the show is the bets: ordinary people offer to perform some unusual (often bizarre) and very difficult task.

Celebrities are regulars with repeated guests including the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Tom Cruise, Angelina Jolie, Cameron Diaz, Brad Pitt, Naomi Campbell, Michael Douglas, Michael Jackson, Jennifer Aniston, David Beckham, Hugh Grant, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Claudia Schiffer, Heidi Klum, Bill Gates, Karl Lagerfeld, Mikhail Gorbachev and Gerhard Schröder.

Butler returns to voice his character Stoick the Vast in How to Train Your Dragon 2 which arrives in theaters on June 20, 2014.

Fair enough Daniel – the German language show, which was broadcasting in Spain. They tour and air all over Europe.

Spain was where is was airing

    • Manuel Wenger says:

Wetten dass..? is a co-production of german television (ZDF), Austrian Television (ORF) and Swiss Television, but with the german television as leading production company.

The shows are normally recorded throughout germany , but since Mallorca is a very famous island for germans to go on vacation, they started to do special summer shows there a few years ago.

Wetten das..? is broadcasted only in germany, austria and switzerland, so only in german speaking countries. You wont see it in spain nor in any other European country.

Wetten das..? has a very long history, and used to be a very famous saturday primetime show, which was the main reason for celebrities to get on this show to have a wide audience to promote there upcoming films, music,….

recently at one of the bets a young boy was heavily injured, which was the reason the host who did this show over many years resigned.
The new host who was at this show at spain now is not nearly as good as the old one and there is a lot of buzz about him forcing him to leave the show. The show has lost a lot of popularity since the other host quit.
Such stupid things like Gerald Butler had to do would never had happened under the former host.
The show was born in the 80ies and still follows the same concept. Imho it´s not up to date any more, and i better should have shut down after the old host resigned.

Can you imagine a show where a celebrity has to be for 3 hours looking to sometimes really silly bets ?

  2. Daniel says:

They talk a lot of German for a Spansish show.
