Franklin Graham says President Obama leading nation on ‘sinful course’ and God will judge him
Evangelical leader Franklin Graham has called out President Obama for a speech he made at a gay pride event, criticizing the shift towards homosexuality and God will judge America’s leadership.
Obama said that the Americans have shifted their attitudes toward homosexuality. Franklin Graham said that, while statistically that is true, but it is not a shift to be celebrated.
“Accepting wrong as right—accepting sin as something to be proud of,” Graham wrote in Facebook post. “Yes, that’s definitely a shift. Should we be surprised that he thanked the LGBT community for all that they had helped him accomplish during his time as president?”
Graham’s finished, “The president is leading this nation on a sinful course, and God will judge him and us as a nation if we don’t repent.”
“A lot of what we’ve accomplished over these last 6 1/2 years has been because of you,” Obama said, pointing to the two states which had legalized gay marriage and how activists had garnered support in now 37 states at the time of the Supreme Court ruling.
Obama said in 2004: “What I believe is that marriage is between a man and a woman. … What I believe, in my faith, is that a man and a woman, when they get married, are performing something before God, and it’s not simply the two persons who are meeting. … We have a set of traditions in place that, I think, need to be preserved. … I don’t think marriage is a civil right.”
