Fox Sports sued for discrimination, Jerry Davis alleges no black has ever been promoted above VP

The plaintiff Jerry Davis alleges in a lawsuit filed Friday in Los Angeles Superior Court that the Fox Sports Corporate Group currently employs 34 executives above the VP level – and not one of them is black.

“Indeed, to the best of Mr. Davis’s knowledge, no Black person has ever held any position at or above vice president in that division’s entire 19-year existence. Representation of Black individuals in leadership positions in other sports divisions at FOX is, and always has been, similarly abysmal. During the course of its existence, Fox Sports, through its various divisions and entities, has intentionally maintained a practice of directly and indirectly favoring the hiring and/or promotion of non-Black and non-minority employees at senior levels without any legitimate reason. Mr. Davis is a direct victim of this discriminatory practice.”

According to the complaint filed by Harmeen Jones, 32, who is African-American, two of his coworkers said in front of him that they wouldn’t feel comfortable having a black president. Jones alleges that one of the men looked at him, saw he was uncomfortable and said, “[A]m I offending your blackness?”

According to Jones, when he tried to speak with other African-American employees at the network, they “told him to keep his head down and not say anything.” He claims that he was treated differently — such as not being allowed to take sick days and being blamed for mistakes he did not have any control over — and received poor marks on his employee review that were based on reasons that were “factually inaccurate.”

ones finally did speak to the head of Human Resources, who set up a meeting with him and several of the defendants on Sept. 24, 2009. On Oct. 2, Jones was fired.

Fox declined to comment on the suit, which names as defendants Fox Cable Network Services, Fox Sports Net, Fox Sports and Fox Networks Group.

The lawsuit, filed by the Rushovitch Mehtani and Shegerian & Associates firms, alleges causes of action for unlawful discrimination based on race and disability, as well as retaliation and a failure to accommodate disability, wrongful termination and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The article above is about me. Half of the article is accurate and about me. The s cond half has nothing to do with me. It’s details pertain to people whom I do not know. The lawyer referenced is not my lawyer. This is a poorly written article about me. It’s amazing to me how people get gigs and just wrongly butcher people.

  2. The Clintidote says:

So, what is there about being black that qualifies one to be promoted above the level of VP? Is that all it takes, and blacks are just being held back by The Man again?
