Fort Hood Shooting: Daniel Ferguson, Carlos Lazaney-Rodriguez returned to Florida for burial
Two twenty year veterans, who were killed in the latest Fort Hood shooting, will arrive in Florida today, set to be laid to rest.
Sgt. First Class Daniel M. Ferguson, 39, was from Mulberry and A. Lazaney-Rodriguez, 38, originally from Puerto Rico, were murdered in the attack by Ivan Lopez on Apr. 2.
The men were killed, along with Sgt. Timothy W. Owens, 37, who was an Illinois native.
Ferguson has served nearly 21 years in the military and Rodriguez was just months away from retiring after his 20 years of service.
Both soldiers’ bodies will be moved via motorcade for memorial services this weekend and then buried next week in Bushnell, detailed by Bay News 9.
Lopez killed himself after the killing three people and wounding 16 others. Medical examiners are attempting to determine if prescription meds were in the man’s body at the time of his death and; therefore, could help explain the motive behind the shooting.
