Flu shots and travel medicine with Passport Health CEO, Duellyn Pandis
With flu season upon us, albeit seen in low numbers and sporadically thus far, health professionals are advising the public to get vaccinated now as the peak of seasonal flu season hits us around the month of February.
There are a number of flu shot choices available for the 2013-2014 Flu season, and you may be asking, “what’s right for me?”
On the Saturday, Oct 19. airing of Dispatch Radio, President and CEO of Passport Health of Tampa Bay, Duellyn Pandis joined us to help sort out the variety of flu shots available.
Pandis, who is also a registered nurse, defined what is a trivalent flu shot vs a quadrivalent, talked about the egg-free flu shot and the nasal spray vaccine. She thoroughly went through the list of available vaccines.
Pandis went on to explain that seasonal influenza can be a serious infection and that 36,000 people die annually from the respiratory virus.
In addition, she talked about the travel medicine services her company provides including travel health consultation with a travel medicine specialist and what a customer might expect from this service.
