Florida teacher Jennifer Fichter pleads guilty in sex with student case
Jennifer Fichter, the Polk County teacher accused of having sex with three of her students, pleaded guilty to all charges Thursday morning.
There is a total of 37 counts against her. Each count, according to Polk State Attorney Brian Haas, carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
Fichter, 30, confessed to sex with the first student after an interrogation with police. Later, details emerged that she even had an abortion after a surprise pregnancy from one of her “encounters.”
Her plea covers all of her Polk County cases. She still faces additional similar charges in Hillsborough County, where some of the sexual acts with the children occurred.
The former teacher reportedly had rejected a plea deal by the State Attorney’s Office – the reason was not immediately clear.
She faces sentencing before Judge Glenn Shelby on July 2.
Earlier reports detailed that “she had no regrets because she loved him and wanted to be with him. She reportedly said their relationship became stronger over time, in spite of everything they went through.”
Details on the abortion of the child with the 14-year-old student can be read here.
