Florida murder victims identified: Nicholas Leonard, Megan Brown, Margaret Brown, Greg Brown

The family of one of the Hudson Florida murders spoke publically as the four victims have been identified by authorities. An Amber Alert linked Adam Matos to a missing boy, Ismael “Tristan” Santisteban, after police discovered four people dead.

Nicholas Leonard’s family spoke at a press conference Monday, claiming they never heard about Matos or heard that their son’s girlfriend, Megan Brown, was having problems with the man. Brown, along with her parents, Margaret and Greg Brown, both 52, were all found dead with Leonard last week.

A family spokesperson took the podium as Leonard’s parents, aunt and sister stood by. The family explained that Leonard started dating Brown shortly after she moved to Hudson from Pennsylvania with her parents in July.

“Nicholas went above and beyond for any friend in need. He was a kindhearted soul who always made people laugh,” said Michael Shoup, family spokesperson. “The mother, father, sister of Nicholas Leonard and the rest of our family ask for privacy at this time of sorrow as we prepare to celebrate the lives of Nicholas, Megan and Megan’s parents to allow them to rest together in peace.”

Matos remains jailed on $200,000 bond. As previously reported on The Dispatch, he was detained at a Tampa hotel with the 4-year-old boy. The Browns and Leonards were reportedly shot to death as Matos claimed to Bay News 9 he did not kill them.

Investigators are still looking for a knife and gun, the possible murder weapons. If and when those are found, murder charges could come at any time, according to the sheriff’s office.
