Florida Governor race: Andrew Gillum vs Ron DeSantis, how close is it really
The recent polls continue to show a tight race between Andrew Gillum and Ron DeSantis to be the next Florida governor.
Chris Hudson from Americans for Prosperity Action sm (AFP-Action) spoke with Brandon Jones on Dispatch Radio to discuss the race, the feeling on ground and key issues for voters. Check out the full audio below.
The Florida Southern College poll shows Gillum up 3%, 47 percent support, compared to DeSantis’ nearly 44 percent. The more recent polls both had Gillum up by 1%.
Hudson confirms the stats and agrees with other experts – this race is essentially a tie.
“While our results show a small degree of separation between the candidates, this race is still up for grabs,” said Zachary Baumann, a professor of political science at the school and the center’s director.
Gillum is attracting a younger base of support, with over half of respondents aged 18 to 29 and 30 to 44 indicating they plan on voting for the candidate. DeSantis holds a substantial lead among those age 45 to 64 and a smaller advantage among those 64 years old and older.”
