First trailer for ‘Hercules: The Legend Begins’ starring ‘Twilight’ star Kellan Lutz
The first trailer for Hercules: The Legend Begins arrived online starring Kellan Lutz as the titular character.
A mix of 300 and Gladiator, Lutz is featured in the swordplay, love story and dramatic speeches in the tale of the “Half-God” Hercules.
Formerly called Hercules 3D, director Renny Harlin (Die Hard 2) puts an action-oriented spin on the ancient myth as it finds Hercules forced to choose between the woman he loves—Hebe, the Princess of Crete, who is promised to his own brother—and exile. He must also fulfill his destiny as the son of Zeus and the greatest fighter of his time.
“We didn’t want to make a movie that is just this brooding guy who’s just going from fight to fight, and just being violent and brutish,” Harlin explained recently. “For us, the love story was very much the heart and key to his character and his story.”
This film is not to be confused with Brett Ratner’s forthcoming Hercules: The Thracian Wars which features Dwayne Johnson as Hercules.
Directed by Harlin and co-starring Gaia Weiss, Scott Adkins, Liam McIntyre, Roxanne McKee and Liam Garrigan.
Hercules: The Legend Begins will open in theaters March 2014, with an international release set for August 8, 2014.
