First poster lands for ‘The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug’
Warner Bros. has released the first poster for director Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, the second film in the Hobbit trilogy.
The poster unveiling comes in advance of the film’s first teaser trailer, which will be released online Tuesday, June 11th and will be attached to screenings of WB’s Man of Steel this weekend.
The poster does a nice job of teasing the peril that lies ahead on Bilbo’s (Martin Freeman) journey, and while the title pretty much details the film’s fit in The Hobbit saga.
There and Back Again, the final film in the saga, will arrive next year.
Jackson resumed filming in May on the trilogy in New Zealand. This was described as “pick-ups” – footage yet to be captured in order to fill the J.R.R. Tolkein adaptation out to three films.
The film also stars Ian McKellen, Evangeline Lilly, Luke Evans, Lee Pace, Stephen Fry, Orlando Bloom, Richard Armitage, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens in 3D on December 13th.
