First ‘Poltergeist’ trailer: plenty of scares and a creepy clown
MGM just launched the trailer for the Poltergeist remake, set with Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, Jared Harris and plenty of links to the Tobe Hooper, Steven Spielberg classic.
The contemporary reboot is directed by Gil Kenan (Monster House) from a script by David Lindsay-Abaire. Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert are producing through their Ghost House Pictures banner along with Roy Lee. Nathan Kahane is exec producing.
New poster added as well – check it out below.
The film follows the Bowen family, whose life is suddenly disrupted after a supernatural force takes over their home, abducts their daughter and begins terrorizing them.
There are a ton of great visuals revealed in the trailer (i.e. even the static on the TV, a creepy clwon) so check it out below.
“The 10-year-old boy is really the protagonist this time. JoBeth Williams was the protagonist for the most part in the first one and now the kid, it’s really through his point-of-view. So it’s more of a kids’ movie so I don’t know if it’s gonna be like rated-R scary,” Rockwell said of the film.
The new film is PG-13 and co-stars Saxon Sharbino, Nicholas Braun, Jane Adams, Kennedi Clements, Kyle Catlett and Soma Bhatia.
Poltergeist comes to theaters on July 24, 2015
