First photos ‘Mad Max Fury Road’: Charlize Theron, Nicholas Hoult, Tom Hardy in action
The new July 4 Entertainment Weekly not only features Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron from Mad Max: Fury Road, the issue gives fans along delayed good look at the reboot.
Fans now get their first look at Theron as Furiosa, shaved head and all, as well as X-Men: Days of Future Past star Nicholas Hoult in Fury Road. These new images are the buzz of movie sites everywhere, check them out below.
The new film comes from an idea by director George Miller, the original Mad Max writer and director, who is back at the helm for this new film. He got the idea back in 2003, but the film didn’t begin shooting until 2012. “I wanted to tell a linear story — a chase that starts as the movie begins and continues for 110 minutes,” said Miller. “In this crucible of very intense action, the characters are revealed.”
Fury Road shot in Namibia for a grueling seven months. “It was mental in a brilliant way,” Hardy told EW. “You have no concrete, no coffee shops. We were in the middle of a sandpit.”
Fury Road also stars Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Hugh Keays-Byrne, and Nathan Jones.
Mad Max: Fury Road opens May 15, 2015.
Here’s the official synopsis for Mad Max: Fury Road:
“MAD MAX: FURY ROAD is the fourth film of George Miller‘s Road Warrior/Mad Max franchise co-written and directed by Miller. The post-apocalyptic action film is set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and most everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life.
Within this world of fire and blood exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order… There’s Max (played by TOM HARDY from The Dark Knight Rises), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos.
And… Furiosa (played by CHARLIZE THERON from Prometheus), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.”
