First photo of merch ‘Pacific Rim Uprising’ centers on the Jaegers
John Boyega recently offered our first look at Jake, who represents the next generation of kaiju-fighting robot drivers in the long-awaited Pacific Rim sequel: Pacific Rim: Uprising, due next year.
Boyega’s Jake and the rest of this new wave of warriors will need some new tech to work with and fans get their first look at these new Jaegers via License! Global via an unofficial Pacific Rim fansite. They published a merchandising tie-in photo – check it out below.
The jaegers haven’t been radically redesigned. They still look like they’re part of the same family, with just enough details to make them feel fresh. The one in the middle shares enough similarities to Gipsy Danger (Mako and Raleigh’s jaeger from the original Pacific Rim) so it may have some of the same parts.
Charlie Hunnam is out, but Rinko Kikuchi will be back as Mako Mori, along with Charlie Day and Burn Gorman. Scott Eastwood and Cailee Spaeny headline newcomers to the film: Jian Ting, Adria Arjona, Levi Meaden, Ukrainian actress Ivanna Sakhno and Japanese star Mackenyu.
Pacific Rim: Uprising is in theaters February 23, 2018.
