First official Prometheus trailer

Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender and Idris Elba star in Prometheus, which was originally conceived as a prequel to Scott’s 1979 classic Alien.

Rapace recently told Digital Spy that her character Elizabeth Shaw is “more feminine” than Sigourney Weaver’s Alien heroine Ripley.

“She has similarities with Ripley but she’s more feminine, she’s a bit more naive in the beginning,” she said.

“She’s a believer, she’s full of faith, she’s a scientist and archaeologist. She goes on this journey in space and she changes into a fighter, warrior and survivor. She’s very much a typical Ridley Scott woman!”

Official synopsis:

Visionary filmmaker Ridley Scott returns to the genre he helped define, creating an original science fiction epic set in the most dangerous corners of the universe. The film takes a team of scientists and explorers on a thrilling journey that will test their physical and mental limits and strand them on a distant world, where they will discover the answers to our most profound questions and to life’s ultimate mystery.

For comparison, here’s the original 1979 trailer for Scott’s Alien:
