First look at Netflix’s ‘The Defenders’: team photo, Sigourney Weaver, Finn Jones on Iron Fist

Marvel’s The Defenders is finally coming to Netflix this summer. Fans finally get a look at the all-star cast/heroes together: Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Daredevil (Charlie Cox), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones).

The group is set against New York City on the cover of the new Entertainment Weekly, check it out below. Teasing the issue, EW tweeted out the first photo of the show’s villain: Sigourney Weaver.

In the words of showrunner Marco Ramirez, she’s an “utter badass.” Beyond that first look at the character, it has also been revealed that her name is Alexandra.

Ramirez talked about the team coming together “Every one of them is following their own trail of bread crumbs, trying to unpack a mystery in New York. We wanted them all caught off guard. Once they’re in that room together, it’s kind of like, ‘Oh, s—, who are you?’”

While Jones’ Iron Fist hasn’t been seen in action yet, the actor says he’s key in The Defenders, pushing them forward.

“Danny Rand is the one that knows really what’s going on. He knows how serious the situation is. Danny Rand, he’s the one that kind of drives the group to get **** done, really.”

Jeph Loeb doesn’t want fans to expect a TV version of the Avengers:”The Defenders didn’t have a ‘D’ on their belt buckles and a Defenders Tower. We agreed from the very beginning that these folks could at the very end go, ‘I never want to see your face again.”
