First look at Dwayne Johnson’s Bravestone in the new ‘Jumanji’ film
With production on a new Jumanji movie beginning imminently, Dwayne Johnson shared a sneak peek at his character before cameras begin rolling.
The new film arriving next summer is not a reboot, but is in fact a sequel to the 1995 Robin Williams film. That film centered on a boy trapped inside of the magical boardgame and Williams being “let out” decades later when a pair of kids picked up the game where it left off.
Now production will start in Hawaii and Johnson’s pic gives off an obvious Indiana Jones vibe, check it out below. Johnson is playing a character named Dr. Bravestone, some sort of adventurer.
Here’s Johnson’s post on Instagram:
EXCLUSIVE FIRST LOOK: Concept art of my #JUMANJI character. “The Smoldering” Dr. Bravestone. (not sure where my pecs went;). This is gonna be fun.. Me, @kevinhart4real, Jack Black, @NickJonas and the Ginger Assassin @karengillanofficial can’t wait to “play the game that plays you”. #JUMANJI #DrBravestone #KingOfTheSmolder #TheAdventureContinues 💀 * JUMANJI Costume Designer Laura Jean Shannon
Johnson has been vocal about the new film, recently saying:
“And now in two weeks I’ll reunite with ol’ friends Kevin Hart & Jack Black and we have the honor to introduce a whole new generation to the amazing world of #JUMANJI. *(for the record we are NOT making a reboot, but rather a continuation of the awesome JUMANJI story). It’s also crazy to me how much me, Kev and Jack look like triplets when we’re together… Man this is gonna be FUN.”
Jake Kasdan, the filmmaker behind Orange County and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, is directing this new Jumanji movie with Johnson starring alongside Jack Black and Kevin Hart, with Nick Jonas and Guardians of the Galaxy actress Karen Gillian.
