Finding Unique and Fun Christmas Gifts on a Budget
Christmas- for some the happiest time of the year and for others, just added stress to an already stretched monthly budget. For those of you feeling the anxiety of having to find gifts for friends and family, here are some great places to find great gifts without breaking the bank.
GoodWill
Many people assume that only used, donated items can be found at Goodwill. Why this is mostly true, did you know that they often get new, unopened merchandise from large retail stores? If you have one of even a couple stores near you, stop in and ask what days they get new item shipments. If you get in early, you can get new stuff at a great price. On the other hand, if art or creativity are among your skills, don’t be afraid to come up with a one of a kind gift. Used real wood furniture, wreaths, and old lamps are just a few items that can be easily redone and turned into an awesome gift.
Classified Ad Sites
Many people are familiar with large classified ad sites like Craigslist, but did you know that there are many local sites you should be looking through. Losangeles-ads.com for example is a local classified site that allows you to connect with local sellers. Do a search for “classified ad + your city” and you may turn up a few local gems. The best part, since the sites are often smaller and less trafficked, you may be able to get a killer deal on items not selling quickly.
Wholesale Stores
Ever heard of Bargain Hunt? If not, chances are you know of a great local store that is similar. Stores like Bargain by items from major supplier like Amazon and resell them at wholesale prices to the public. Just like with Goodwill, you can often find unopened items for 70-90% below retail cost. If you start early, you could most certainly find some amazing gifts at a great price.
With a little luck and patience, you are bound to find some great gifts your friends and family will love, all without racking up credit card debt that will have you stressing in early 2018. Be thrifty, relax, and remember the reason for the season.
