What the police has been doing

The Miami police continue to expand their efforts in controlling crime and terror in the state. Police Chief of Miami Beach, Daniel Oates, has even reconnected with a well-known group of vigilantes in the area to reinforce security all over the area. The recent efforts of the police to connect with the secret Facebook group aims to boost community awareness, improve public safety, and prevent crime before it even happens.

Residents encouraged to improve their security

Authorities encourage residents as well as business owners to reinforce the security systems installed in their properties. If you live or operate a business, you should opt for a security camera installation Miami companies can offer, to discourage the criminally inclined to execute their plans.

You should also consider adding burglar alarms to minimize the risk of break-ins. Talk to a security expert to assess your property and identify possible entry and exit points for criminals. Carefully study where to position the cameras and alarm to ensure that you can indeed catch criminals lurking around your property.

Beyond security cameras and alarms

Aside from installing security features, you must also be vigilant in protecting yourself online. Beware of the information you post on social media, especially your activities and whereabouts when you go around the city. Avoid posting sensitive information such as your IDs, banking statements and credit card information. Don’t make yourself an easy target! It pays to be extra cautions because you never know who’s out to get you.

Practice personal security tips

Regardless of what time you usually go out, you always need to be fully aware of your surroundings. Pay attention to the people around you and learn to recognize key signs of danger. If you suspect anything, don’t hesitate to call for help. It’s important to know and practice every personal security and protection tip in the book so you can effectively avoid danger. If possible, try learning basic self-defense techniques. Learn how to defend yourself by hitting an assailant’s vulnerable body parts such as the groin, knees, nose, eyes, and throat.

You should never underestimate the value of taking the necessary safety and security measures. While the crime rate in Miami has considerably dropped over the years, it still pays to be extra careful. If you don’t have security alarms or surveillance cameras set up, you should consider calling in an expert to help you. Besides securing your property, don’t forget to take extra precautionary measures when you head out. Anyone can be a victim of crime.
