FBI reveals Virginia shooter James Hodgkinson had storage unit of ammo, rifles, targeted Freedom Caucus Republicans
The details surrounding the Virginia shooting continue to unravel and reveal that the attack could have been much more lethal. Wednesday the FBI said what they discovered in a storage shed that the shooter, James Hodgkinson, had rented before he put his plan into action. Prior to this the FBI said that they had discovered a list of members of Congress in the pocket of the shooter.
The details were released to the press by Timothy Slater, special agent in charge of the FBI Washington field office.
“In April 2017, the shooter rented a storage unit in Alexandria,” Slater said, “in which we found a laptop computer, an excess of 20o rounds of ammunition, a receipt for a November, 2016 gun purchase, and additional SKS rifle components.”
“Through a review of activity logs at the storage facility,” he added, “we determined that the shooter visited his unit more than 43 times between April and June. And every day between June 4th and June 14th.”
“The morning of the shooting,” he continued, “he arrived at his storage unit at 6:23 AM and departed at 6:35 AM. In the shooter’s vehicle, located at the scene of the shooting, we found another laptop computer, a cell phone, and a digital camera.”
“FBI analysis of the electronic media items recovered which I will note is still ongoing,” Slater added, “did not reveal that the shooter placed any online posts or threats or references to members of Congress or the congressional baseball game itself.”
“The shooter made numerous posts on his social media accounts,” he said, “espousing anti-Republican views, however those posts appeared to be First Amendment protected rights.”
Louisiana’s Steve Scalise’s condition was improved from serious to fair after the shooting that left major damage to his internal organs and resulted in massive bleeding.
The Daily Caller reported that they confirmed that the three members on the man’s hit list were Alabama Rep. Mo Brooks, South Carolina Rep. Jeff Duncan and Arizona Rep. Trent Franks.
Hodgkinson appears to be a leftist who campaigned for Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders during the Democratic primary and was outraged against Republicans throughout 2016 and since.
