FBI addresses conspiracy theories on Michael Hastings death, contradicts WikiLeaks tweet
While the Internet is buzzing with conspiracy theories, the FBI took the unusual step this week of denying rumors it was investigating Michael Hastings before the journalist’s death.
“At no time was journalist Michael Hastings under investigation by the FBI,” agency public affairs specialist Laura Eimiller told CBSNews.com and other outlets, after the organization WikiLeaks suggested as much in a tweet.
The statement was a departure from the FBI’s policy of neither confirming nor denying the existence of investigations, and earlier statements from FBI representatives refusing to comment.
SAF details how Hastings was instrumental in destroying the careers of two of Americas top war leaders, Generals Stanley McChrystal and David Petraeus, along with earning the ire of former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton whose top aide, Philippe Reines, told Hastings this past September (2012) to “F**k off” and “Have a good life” after being questioned about Clintons role in what is referred to as the Benghazi Attack which killed 4 Americans in Libya including Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens.
Hastings was confirmed as the body removed from the burned wreckage of a crashed car which hit a tree earlier this week.
On Wednesday the anti-secrecy organization WikiLeaks posted on Twitter that the investigative journalist “contacted WikiLeaks lawyer Jennifer Robinson just a few hours before he died, saying that the FBI was investigating him.”
The tweet fueled a cascade of online conspiracy theories about how Hastings died.
Jim Stone detailed a different version of the accident and the damage to the vehicle. (via Infowars)
Photographs of the crash scene, however, reveal that the car Hastings was in did not experience a high-speed crash. “There is no impact damage to this car. The only damage there is BLOWN OUT in the back, not smashed in the front and it obviously missed the tree as it rolled to a stop,” writes Jim Stone. “This was a Mercedes, not a Pinto, which means it did not burst into flames on its own. One (seldom quoted) eyewitness said the car ‘exploded,’” Stone continues.
“No matter how you slice this particular pie, a Mercedes is not just going to explode into flames without a little assistance,” Stone explains. “Car fires in new cars happen for three main reasons — running the engine out of oil, or running the engine out of coolant, or after an absolutely huge car mangling accident, having the hot side of the battery short out against the frame before it reaches the fuse panel. And for all 3 of those normal reasons, which account for virtually all car fires in modern cars, the fire would have started in the engine compartment, progressed slowly, and scorched the hell out of the paint before ever reaching the gas tank. That clean paint is the be all tell all, Michael Hastings was murdered, and the rest is detail.”
Video of the car fire is here, judge the damage yourself.
The Los Angeles Police Department told news outlets that there was no evidence of foul play in the accident.

Once again there is a suspicious death and the government disavows any knowledge or
involvement. And, of course, the U.S. government never lies and NSA never listens to our
phone calls!! Two reports you need to see—

Earlier this year, in February, there was also the very suspicious death in California of
Phillip Marshall. The deaths of Phillip Marshall, his two teen-age children and their dog, was called murder/suicide but, according to one report, it had all the appearances of a CIA ‘black ops hit job.’ Marshall, a retired airline pilot, was an author
and 9/11 conspiracy theorist who had written the book, ‘THE BIG BAMBOOZLE.’ The
latest book he was working on was to be an expose of CIA crimes which may have been what got him killed…
If it was indeed a huge gasoline explosion which caused the fireball it would have have come from the gas tank. And yet this picture clearly shows the gas tank laying behind the car is in solid condition:
