Fan Bingbing confirms she’ll be back for another X-Men film, or three

“I am contracted to appear in the next four X-Men films and it’s going to be really amazing,” she said through her translator. “In 14 years since the X-Men films started, this is the first time an Asian mutant is in the film. So, it’s going to be really interesting.”

Bingbing plays Blink, a mutant with teleportation powere, who was killed twice in the most recent film, but will be returning in the new alternate timeline. She detailed the experience, envisioining her powers and the CGI process.

“It was really hard to visualise the portals and Blink just keeps creating a new one every second.

“The director told me to look at the lights because that represent the portals, and I remember this one big scene where I have to create so many different portals, it was crazy. Thankfully, when I watched the movie at the New York premiere, there were all these beautiful purple portals that made it all look real.”

She praised director Bryan Singer for selecting her and what that means for the Asian community.

” In the comics, Blink is a Caucasian girl, so I was curious why Bryan wanted an Asian to play the role. He said that it’s time for Blink to make an appearance and, for her debut she has to be simply marvelous. It was an offer I couldn’t refuse.”

X-Men: Apocalypse will be set in the 1980s, centering on the popular villain by the same name and will feature “mass destruction.” While there are not a lot of details, comments by creators allude to a place for characters from the original trilogy.

A standalone Gambit film is also in the works, so Nightcrawler and Gambit being a part of the Apocalypse seems very likely.

Apocalypse will star Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Evan Peters and an unconfirmed group from the earlier films.

X-Men: Apocalypse is set to arrive in theaters on May 27, 2016.
