Fairfax Country police identify Matthew Ortega as the teen murdered, found in Jeb Stuart Square
Fairfax County police have identified a homicide victim found in Centreville on Wednesday Matthew Ortega.
Ortega, 17, was found dead in the street in the 13000 block of Jeb Stuart Square shortly before 5:20 a.m. Wednesday by a newspaper delivery driver. Neighbors told the police and press that the home near where the body was found has been vacant for some time.
Police say Ortega suffered trauma to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
His death is being investigated as a homicide and is ongoing.
Officials turned to twitter on Wednesday, tweeting details of Ortega’s sweatshirt: “We need your help in identifying the victim from the homicide this morning. He is about 5’6”-5’8” tall and was found wearing a sweatshirt with this design. Please call detectives at 703-246-7800 if you have any information.” – @Fairfaxpolice
