Evangeline Lilly, Lee Pace and Orlando Bloom star in ‘Elves’ banner for ‘The Hobbit The Desolation of Smaug’

The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug has released a new banner online, introducing the elves into the mix of races entering the quest to thwart the dragon Smaug.

Legolas, Tauriel and Thranduil are center stage showing off Orlando Bloom, Evangeline Lilly and Lee Pace’s characters.

In addition to the elves playing a larger role in the Hobbit sequel, Bard the Bowman (played by Luke Evans) will be a popular newcomer to the franchise and will have a significant role in the final battle with Smaug.

Smaug will be voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock, The Fifth Estate) but few details have been revealed about the dragon as the Peter Jackson inches closer.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug opens in 2D, 3D, IMAX, and HFR on December 13th.

The second in a trilogy of films adapting the enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug continues theadventure of the title character Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he journeys with the Wizard Gandalf (Ian McKellan) and thirteen Dwarves, led by Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage) on an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor.
