Erdogan Guzel shot and killed in ‘drive by shooting,’ one left fighting for life

Police have launched a murder investi gation after the man, Erdogan Guzel, was gunned down in front of a London bakery in Wood Green Friday early evening.

Guzel, 42, is a father-of-two and believed to be “in the wrong place at the wrong time” when he was killed in a suspected drive-by shooting after paramedics lost an hour-long battle to save his life. He was declared dead on the scene.

Haydar Alma, owner of a nearby Polish shop, was a witness and recounted the incident to The Irish Examiner.

“I was in the shop working and I heard the gun, like an automatic. I looked outside and I saw the car and the window open and somebody shooting. After they had gone I went outside and I saw the woman. Somebody called an ambulance.”

Alma said the other patrons raced to rushed to help the victims, calling out for materials to slow the bleeding until emergency services arrived.

“The ambulance took the woman and did something for the man here. I asked the policeman what had happened and he said he had died,” Alma concluded.

The unidentified female victim remains in a critical but stable condition at an east London hospital.

Scotland Yard confirmed that there have been no arrests in connection with the fatal shooting.

Imam Sumbul, described as a friend of Guzel’s cousin, told the Daily Mail that “He was in the wrong place at the wrong time…The bullet was not meant for him.”
