‘Elysium’ stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster as new details of the Sci-fi film emerge
Comic-con revelaed a few more details about director Neill Blomkamp’s upcoming Sci-Fi film “Elysium,” which stars Matt Damon.
The story takes place on a futuristic Earth that’s overpopulated and ruined. The wealthy live on a man-made space station called Elysium, and as with “District 9″ Blomkamp is obviously tackling larger social issues against this sci-fi backdrop.
At the Sony booth, there’s an “automated” border checkpoint agent that’s available to answer questions regarding relocating to Elysium. They also have brochures that advertise your ability to purchase property on Elysium for the low, low price of $250,000,000!
Set in 2159, two classes of people are roughly divided: the wealthy live on a man-made space station called Elysium, while the rest of the humans inhabit an overpopulated and ruined Earth.
Jodie Foster co-stars with Damon. “Elysium” opens March 1, 2013.
Here’s the synopsis for Elysium:
In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.
