Elizabeth Warren faces ‘We Trusted You’ protest chants as she ‘sells out’ during DNC speech
While the media paints the crowd as the Democratic National Convention as unified, many Bernie Sanders supporters and socialist targeted Massachusetts Senator and progressive icon Elizabeth Warren during her speech. The chant “We trusted you! We trusted you!” was heard over and over again.
Warren strongly backed Hillary Clinton after considering an endorsement of Sanders for several months. According to CNN’s Jake Tapper, the chanters accusing Warren of selling out were “shushed” by other delegates.

Business Insider’s headline says Warren was “repeatedly heckled, booed during” her speech in Philadelphia.

And toward the end of Warren’s speech, the more progressive delegates began chanting again. “Goldman Sachs! Goldman Sachs!” portions of the crowd chanted.
Chants of “tax Wall Street” also came from the crowd.

The divide between Sanders and Clinton supporters deepened over the weekend after emails published by WikiLeaks revealed top Democratic National Committee officials used the party apparatus to tip the scales against the Vermont senator.
Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the DNC chair, announced her resignation in the wake of the responses and now has a position with the Clinton campaign.
A special h/t to Red State for their use of the word tomfoolery in their analysis: “It wasn’t a very good image for someone who socialists were hoping would run against Hillary when all this tomfoolery started. It was… kinda sad.”
