Elizabeth Higgins Clark discusses fertility, freezing her eggs and balancing acting
While she may be an actress with role on soaps like General Hospital and All My Children as well as Criminal Minds, Elizabeth Clark is making a name for herself by speaking as a fertility advocate.
Elizabeth details her journey, learning about freezing eggs and what that could mean for life, career and future family plans. “I started doing more research and I thought ‘Wouldn’t it be interesting if I could be my own egg donor.’ I was 29 at the time and anytime you face a birthday that ends in zero you think about a lot of things…I wasn’t really ready to have children and I didn’t think I’d be ready in the next two or three years.”
Her article on Buzzfeed, 12 Reasons I Froze My Eggs Before My 30th Birthday, launched the actress on a different journey as a voice of this field of fertility. Elizabeth clarifies many details surrounding the process, the 32 year-old age criteria to be a donor and facts about that dreaded “biological clock.”
She really opens up about the process, reaching out family for this big decision and how her life has transitioned into this new role as a speaker: “I feel so blessed,” she says, mentioned her recent engagement as USC. “I’m really enjoying it and hoping to do more of it…”
We’d be remiss if we didn’t ask about Elizabeth’s grandmother, famous author Mary Higgins Clark, who she just gushes over, describing her as “gracious” and how she met with fans in her youth.
