eBay rejects Glenn Beck’s ‘Obama in Pee Pee’ art project stunt

The online auction site eBay has pulled a piece of “art” done by Glenn Beck citing its belief that the project featured an Obama figurine floating in actual urine, which Beck confirmed did not.

Beck submerged an Obama doll in a jar of (fake) urine as an homage to Andres Serrano’s controversial photograph “Piss Christ” to sell it on eBay for $25,000. The project is called “Obama in Pee Pee.”

Beck’s piece was meant to underscore the importance of adhering to the First Amendment and highlight the hypocrisy of those who adhere to it only when it suits them.

Amid the deluge of stories about the post-election meltdown of the right, last night we saw an epically demented manifestation of conservative America’s mental breakdown. In an eleven-minute video, the fruitbat right-wing radio personality Glenn Beck….-Vulture article began

But is it art, this potty spectacle of a white man ridiculing the work of black artist Andrès Serrano, placing a black man in a jar of urine (while also attacking the work of black artist Chris Ofili as an aside)? Well, as Beck sneers, “Art is in the eye of the beholder.” Yep, and so is pornography, which this thing seems closer to: It’s just as canned, conventional, predictable, and badly produced, and stars a bad actor. As art, Beck’s Obama in Pee Pee looks rinky-dink and silly. More like a party favor or a tchotchke. Boring bad art, plain and simple. Terrible sculpture, regardless of politics.

Glenn Beck Showered President Obama With Urine & Listed It On eBay As Art! – Perez Hilton headline

    Here’s the post:

CAUTION: Young children, the easily nauseated, and anyone with a small tolerance for awkwardly bad accents are lame attention ploys — avert your eyes!!

On the list of things weird things Glenn Beck would do for $25k, dunking a President Obama bobble-head in a mason jar filled with urine is near the top!

Tuesday he proved as much on his ultra-conservative “news” show!

Ch-ch-check the master of mystery, well, something, pretending to be a French artiste while dunking a dashboard-sized version of our Commander-in-Chief into what he claims is a jar filled with his own pee pee (above.)

And then he had the audacity to hope he could sell his excrement for $25,000 online!!

Unfortunately for the enthusiastic bobble-head collector ready to shell out $11k, eBay’s fine print prevents the sale of “bodily waste” and the auction was prematurely terminated.

Ugh! Glenn’s ultra-conservative “news” show isn’t exactly informing its viewers about the world around them!

A scathingly insightful critique of modern art and our Perezident’s policies this was NOT!

Honestly, if Glenn’s fail were any more epic, Homer would’ve worked it into one of his poems!

In what might be the product of a mental breakdown for a normal person, conservative loud-mouth Glenn Beck did a very Glenn Beck thing and attempted to auction a Barack Obama doll in a Mason Jar filled with beer (but positioned as urine). – Salon
