Dwayne Johnson describes Black Adam as ‘ruthless’ with ‘charm’
Once the teasing was over, it was confirmed that action star Dwayne Johnson will be playing Black Adam in the DC Comics adaptation of Shazam. Now Johnson tweets on the role, calling him ruthless.
Can’t wait to play BLACK ADAM. We’ll find that anti-hero balance of ruthless rip your throat out w/ wonderful charm.. #ROCKTALK @Dosteguin

Johnson has referred to the character as an anti-hero before. He is Shazam’s arch nemesis, but he’s always been a highly complex character. He once held the mantle that Shazam has, but abused his power and turned to the dark side. He’s also one of the more ruthless villains in the DC Comics gallery, but doesn’t see himself as a villain.
The fact that Adam will be charming is also no surprise, considering that Johnson is the one playing him. Black Adam is very similar to a Tom Hiddleson Loki which has won over Marvel fans.
Little to nothing has been reported on the main character or even the role Black Adam has in the broader DC/Warner Bros film universe.
After Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice on March 25, 2016, Justice League (part one) will open June 23, 2017 and Wonder Woman arriving on November 17, 2017. Shazam will arrive just ahead of the second Justice League film.
Shazam will arrive into theaters on April 5th, 2019.
