‘Duck Dynasty’ star Si Robertson says America needs ‘sin control’ not gun control

The article starts with the redneck label, but this interview with Si Robertson is nothing short of the pure Duck Dynasty fans have grown to love.

Talking in an interview with Men’s Journal, the bearded Uncle dives into the reality behind the reality show which offers “no swearing, no sex, and no broken marriages” (as the article points out)

I will hurt you physically and metaphysically si robertson shirt duck Dynasty“It ain’t gun control we need; it’s sin control,” Si says as Phil Robertson discusses the ills of world.

“Self-control,” Phil says.

“Self-control,” Si repeats.

“Self-control and sin control,” Phil says, getting the last word.

Si cautions fans not to put the family on some elite tower, they make mistakes and Si credits God while recounting his sinful younger years as he was drafted into the Army and heading off to Vietnam.

“I kept a fifth of whiskey in my pocket everywhere I went,” he said. “I tried dope one time, okay, like marijuana, but why would you smoke something that makes you feel 100 years old? So, drugs wasn’t it for me. In my mind, it was alcohol and whoring around.”

Robertson said he was worried about the pedestal the family has been put on since the reality show took off.

“Look, I worry that people put us on a pedestal now,” Si told Men’s Journal. “We’re human beings. We make mistakes just like everybody else.”

Robertson rattled off a story about how two dozen people showed up on his property banging on his door.

“The other night, it’s 12:03 in the morning, and somebody is knocking on the door, and I’m like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me,’ and I look outside and there’s 25 people standing in my yard,” he said. “You know, He’s the reason this show has gone on like it has, but I have to ask Him every day, ‘Give me strength to deal with this.’”

The Robertsons are bold and brash, never waivering in the face of attacks (or being labeled “animal serial killers” by PETA)

“Very sad,” says Phil. “I go out into America and I am literally navigating a minefield. Godliness has become abnormal. I just left California, where I spoke to 40,000 altogether. I told them I was a Bible man. I told them I believe that in the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth. ‘What’s he trying to say? That I can’t sleep with anybody I want? Is this guy crazy?’ Then they see a little family structure on TV – us – and the show goes ballistic. Thousands and thousands of people have thanked us. Isn’t that right, Si?”

Si bobs his head and says, “Yeah.”
