Drew Cato murder: Blaeke Wolfe’s mother Virginia Reynolds arrested, charged with concealing the death

A third person has been charged in connection to the Andrew “Drew” Cato murder case. District Attorney Natalie Paine has confirmed that Virginia Wolfe Reynolds was arrested in connection to Cato’s murder.

Reynolds, 42, was arrested Thursday, charged with concealing a death, joining two others charged in the case: Blaeke Wolfe and Devin Stringfield.

Wolfe, 23, and Stringfield, 24 were arrested and charged with murder in May in relation to Cato’s murder. They were both denied bond on October 4 and pleaded not guilty in Richmond County Superior Court.

During the bond hearing, Paine said Stringfield showed detectives where Cato was buried.

Paine explained that Reynolds is Wolfe’s mother and added that Stringfield was also charged with possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

According to Paine, Wolfe and Cato had a 2-year-old son who lived with Wolfe. She wanted Cato dead because she believed that he was going to report her to the Department of Family and Children Services over the conditions of her home and take custody of the child.

Cato was last seen May 5. Family and friends became worried when he didn’t appear at work May 7.

According to Cato’s phone records, Cato and Wolfe had been texting each other May 5. Paine said Cato went to Wolfe’s home to see his son, where he and Stringfield fought before Stringfield pulled a gun equipped with a silencer and shot him several times.

Cato’s body was recovered in McCormick County, S.C. on May 27. DNA and an autopsy has confirmed that the body found was Cato.

According to court documents, Reynolds was charged in 2010 for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana. The possession of methamphetamine charge was reduced to disorderly conduct, while the possession of marijuana charge was dropped. Reynolds was sentenced to 12 months probation and a $300 fine.

She was granted $5,700 bond on the concealing a death charge.
