‘Dredd’ star Lena Headey featured in new ‘300 Rise of an Empire’ poster
A new poster has arrived online for 300: Rise Of An Empire featuring Lena Headey as the steely Queen Gorgo.
The tagline “Avenge Him” accompanies the actress, alluding to the fallen Leonidas from the first 300 film.
Rise of an Empire film will take place before, during and after the events of the original film, as the battle for Greece shifts away from the dusty plains and onto the high seas.
“It’s huge!” Lena Headey recently said, discussing her return as Queen. “It’s different in that Zack [Snyder] didn’t direct it, so it’s a very different feeling…But the film, visually, follows on very much from the original. It’s something that’s so beloved for its physicality and visceral content. I had fun; I got to hold a sword.”
Headey’s returns as Queen Gorgo, and the film adds a new character Calisto, played by Jack O’Connell.
300: Rise of an Empire arrives on theaters on March 7, 2014.
Official synopsis: After its victory over Leonidas’ 300, the Persian Army under the command of Xerxes marches south towards the major Greek city-states. The Democratic city of Athens, first on the path of Xerxes’ army, bases its strength on its fleet, led by admiral Themistocles. Themistocles is forced to an unwilling alliance with the traditional rival of Athens, oligarchic Sparta whose might lies with its superior infantry troops. But Xerxes still reigns supreme in numbers over sea and land.
