Doug Schoen calls email scandal ‘constitutional crisis,’ Pat Caddell says ‘investigation cannot go away’
“I am deeply concerned that we will have a constitutional crisis if she’s elected. I want to learn more this week, see what we see, but as of today, I am not a supporter of the Secretary of State for the nation’s highest office,” Doug Schoen writes for Forbes, recounting his appearance on the FOX Report, Political Insiders.
“But since Friday’s announcement from FBI Director James Comey that the FBI may have found emails related to the Clinton probe on Anthony Weiner’s computer, the prospect of a successful Clinton presidency has been thrown into chaos,” Schoen added. (emphasis added, The Dispatch.)
“Do you want a President who is under investigation from day one?” asked Pat Caddell on Breitbart News Daily SiriusXM with host Alex Marlow on Monday, pointing out that the email scandal could easily consume any Clinton presidency, just as Watergate did to Nixon’s.
“Last night on Political Insiders on Fox, ” continued Caddell, “my colleague Doug Schoen, who had been for Hillary Clinton, stunned everyone by saying he could no longer consider supporting her because if she were elected, there would be a constitutional crisis. I then equated the situation to Watergate in 1973.”
Added Caddell, “This investigation cannot go away,” pointing out that if there is confidential or classified government emails among the 650,000 or so discovered on a laptop belonging to former Congressman Anthony Weiner and his wife, Clinton aide Huma Abedin, that alone could be a crime.
Schoen added: “What I mean by this is that we are staring down the barrel of a criminal investigation of President-elect Clinton. We will also be facing investigations into her top aide, Huma Abedin, who apparently forwarded emails to her shared computer with her husband, Weiner, to print and give to the former Secretary of State. And there’s a very real chance that there will be investigations into the actions of the Justice Department and the FBI Director himself.
“This is no way to start any presidency, let alone one after such a tumultuous campaign and eight years of hyper partisanship that has left America more divided than ever before.”
