Donald Trump’s lead gone in new poll, Joe Biden would hurt Hillary Clinton not Bernie Sanders
A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll conducted between September 22 and September 24 shows Donald Trump leading in the Republican primary race by just a single point, the Wall Street Journal reports – lead down to just 1%. While Hillary Clinton still leads Democrats, the potential of Joe Biden entering the race would be a negative for the former Secretary of State, not her main competitor: Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.
Ben Carson now trails Trump 21-20%, a different which is within the margin of error, rising from 10% in the similar poll taken in mid-July. This new poll also show Carly Fiorina and Marco Rubio tied for third place, each with 11%. The coverage notes that Twenty-eight percent of voters chose Fiorina for either their first or second choice.
For the Democratic candidates, Clinton remains in the lead with 53% with Sanders as 38 points, “putting just 15 points between the two presidential hopefuls.” Other Democratic candidates received 1% of the vote or less.
Adding Biden to the polling does not make much of dent into Sanders’ support, which decreased by just 3 points taking him to 35%. In contrast, Biden would take most of the air out of Hillary’s base of support, whose backing declines to 42% if Biden were running, giving her just a seven point lead over Sanders.
Putting Biden to the primary race, according to the September poll, and he would sit at third place among Democrats with 17%.
The rest of the GOP contenders: Jeb Bush is at 7 percent, John Kasich at 6 percent and Ted Cruz at 5 percent. No other Republican gets more than 3 percent.
“Adding both first and second choices, Carson tops the current GOP field at 35 percent – followed by Trump at 31 percent, Fiorina at 28 percent, Rubio at 26 percent and Bush at 19 percent,” notes NBC.
Poll data: The NBC/WSJ poll was conducted Sept. 20-24 of 256 Democratic voters (which has a margin of error of plus-minus 6.1 percentage points) and 230 GOP primary voters (plus-minus 6.5 percentage points).
Duh, who is this guy?? No way a Black Republican would win the election. Most Black people vote Democratic. Him overtaking Trump has got to be temporary or an anomaly. Perhaps the diehard Republicans are standing behind him to get rid of Trump. He will never win and if he ends up being he Republican candidate, the Democrats are sure to win, even if Hiliary is the Democratic candidate. Nothing personal against Carson, since I voted for Obama twice, but his lead is a fluke or contrived.
