Donald Trump talks ‘great relationship’ with God, ‘I am good’

GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump defended his faith and contended that he has a “great relationship” with not only God, but evangelicals as well, citing polls and ultimately saying that he’s “good.”

In an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper that aired on Sunday, Trump elaborated on a comment he made in July when he confessed that he doesn’t forgiveness from God. Trump even said he’s “not sure” if he’s ever asked for forgiveness from God.

“I have a great relationship with God,” Trump said the new interview, adding that he did not regret his previous remarks. “I have a great relationship with evangelicals. In fact, nationwide, I’m up by a lot, I’m leading everybody.”

“I like to be good. I don’t like to have to ask for forgiveness, and I am good. I don’t do a lot of things that are bad,” Trump continued. “I try to do nothing that’s bad. I live a very different life than probably a lot of people would think. I have a very great relationship with God, and I have a very great relationship with evangelicals.”

When Tapper questioned Trump’s lifestyle based on tabloid headlines, Trump said he’s been “leading a very good life” over “the last number of years.”

Tapper doesn’t ask Trump to define “good” or “What is good versus bad” during their talk.
