‘Doctor Strange’ with Benedict Cumberbatch set to film, in November as details emerge

While promoting Avengers: Age of Ultron at an event for bloggers, Feige confirmed Doctor Strange, which will be directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister) and star Benedict Cumberbatch (Sherlock) in the title role, will start filming in November.

When asked about Doctor Strange, Feige said he was “excited” about Cumberbatch as Strange. He also stressed that his focus is always to make sure that all MCU films are strong on their own and the same will go for Doctor Strange.

As has been reported before via Latino Review, the main villains of the film will be Dormammu and Baron Mordo. Dormammu will also be leading an army of zealots, which is most likely the Mindless Ones that have already been rumored as well. They are described as looking humanoid but made out of stone and cut into tiny layers.

He will also have a vest of some sort, but either way will be going for an MCU version of the classic costume, which should be a relief for those that feared Marvel may not adhere to the traditional look.

The look and design of Doctor Strange is said to be on a whole other visual level, with plenty of use of astral projections and levitation, etc. Much of the action will take place “between dimensions” with lots of wild “Inception-like visuals.”

JoBlo recently got their hands on details, confirming these facts, which leaves Feige on the issue of Cumberbatch’s accent.

He told MTV: “We have not discussed [the accent] with him yet, but he’s Benedict Cumberbatch, so I think he can do anything we ask of him.”

Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson will be starting principle photography in London this November, having been scouting out buildings in New York recently.

“Benedict’s been on a bit of a whirlwind tour up until now but he is so excited,” Feige said. “We are as excited to have him as he is to be part of this.”

Doctor Strange is scheduled for release on November 4, 2016.
