‘Divergent’ star Miles Teller teases ‘Fantastic Four’ lead, may be Dan Aykroyd in John Belushi film

Miles Teller, long rumored to be the frontrunner to play Reed Richards in The Fantastic Four, says that an announcement on the film should be coming soon as he may be signed up for the John Belushi biopic.

Peter Miles Teller Divergent posterAccording to pop culture website Punch Drunk Critics, who spoke with him briefly and who took his remarks to mean he was a virtual lock for the film and that the announcement will be his casting.

This week, The Spectacular Now star Teller is appearing at the Sundance Film Festival in support of his new film Whiplash, which was just picked up for distribution by Sony.

“Yeah, that should be coming up in the next few weeks” when asked whether fans will see him starring in director Josh Trank’s film adaptation of Marvel Comics’s famous superhero team.

Emile Hirsch is locked as the headliner for the John Belushi biopic directed by Steve Conrad and the star has all but confirmed Teller’s decision to play Aykroyd. 

According to The Hollywood Reporter, he hasn’t officially accepted the job yet, but Hirsch reportedly felt confident enough about the prospects over the weekend to straight up announce it at a Sundance party. 

Hirsch  grabbed a microphone and told the crowd like it was the most normal thing in the world.

“A shout-out to Miles Teller! We’re going to be working together soon. He’s playing Dan Aykroyd in the Belushi movie.”

Teller stars in Divergent as Peter which arrives in theaters March 21, 2014.

The Fantastic Four opens in theaters June 19, 2015.
