Disney makes TV history as ‘The Fosters’ on ABC Family airs teenage gay kiss
The ABC Family drama The Fosters made television history this week featuring the youngest ever dramatized gay kiss, as characters Jude and Connor, both 13, locked lips after some flirting.
The show’s creator, Peter Paige, (Queer as Folk) tweeted with excitement as the scene immediately following the broadcast:
Anyone else remember the exquisite torture of falling for someone and not knowing how they felt? My life in jr. high. #FostersSocialHour — Peter Paige (@ThePeterPaige) March 3, 2015

If this #Jonnor kiss is stressing you out, I’d like to know how old you were when you had your first kiss? #FostersSocialHour — Peter Paige (@ThePeterPaige) March 3, 2015
The Fosters are a diverse group of children, both biological and adopted, parented by an interracial lesbian couple.
Co-executive producer Jennifer Lopez previously described the show as portraying “a new kind of family” and believes it is reflective of the world today.
“Family has tuned into something else,” said Lopez. “Family equals love.”

Back in 2013, after Archie Comics featured their gay kiss, some called for Disney to add gay characters, so to expect more from Disney, even in their animated projects.
Mixing children and homosexuality is not what I expect to see on a Family channel. I have blocked this channel and my kids wont be exposed to this.
