Dismembered body parts washup in Detroit waterways

Two dismembered torsos of a man and a woman were pulled from Detroit-area waterways on Tuesday along with other body parts that are believed to belong to the victims.

U.S. Border Patrol agents spotted the first body and the Coast Guard discovered a second body in the Detroit River soon after. Both corpses were missing their heads, hands and feet.

“This was vicious,” Commander Steve Dolunt of the Detroit Police Department told the Detroit Free Press. “It looks like they were sending a message. It’s not just a normal — if there is a normal — homicide.”

Hollis Fussell of Detroit made a gruesome discovery this morning along the Detroit River — a saw and the body parts of a man and woman whose torsos were found floating nearby.

Fussell had made his way to his regular fishing spot off Alter Park when the heating and air conditioning business owner and property investor spotted the body parts.

“Both bodies were found without hands, feet or heads. They were clearly cut off.”
