Directors Chris Miller, Phil Lord talk ‘Han Solo’ film, jokes about casting
In the wake of news that Chris Miller and Phil Lord would be helming a young Han Solo Star Wars spin-off, the possibilities of casting sent the fanboy universe into a frenzy. While promoting the second season of Last Man on Earth at Comic-Con in San Diego, Miller was asked about the role.
Miller joked about Last Man On Earth star Will Forte playing the titular character before Forte dropped a Chewbacca call.
Miller responded with a grin, and joked, “Young Han Solo? For sure. He’s already got it down, clearly, the lassoing action. But it feels like he’s auditioning for Chewbacca to me.”
Forte’s co-star Kristen Schaal interjected to ask if it’s true that Miller was considering casting one of the heartthrobs from the boy band One Direction.”All those rumors are supertrue,”
Miller kidded, earning warm laughs from the crowd, noted CBR.
Last Man on Earth season begins on September 27th.
The Han Solo Anthology Film is slated for May 25, 2018.
While nothing is official, this “Anthology” will likely center on Han Solo AND Boba Fett, the tension between the two and a third anthology film may still likely be about Yoda.
The Wrap, a month ago, reported that Boba Fett would be the focus of the film, the site writes: “However, an exclusive source has revealed some new info regarding the project…the conflict between Fett and Solo that was only hinted at in the originaltrilogy (and seen countless times in the Expanded Universe) will finally be onscreen in a film taking place between Star Wars: Episode III– Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope. Additionally, it’s been mentioned that characters such as Chewbacca, Lando Calrissian, and Bossk will make appearances throughout the film….”
