Director Ruben Fleischer will not return for ‘Venom 2’ as the sequel will start in the fall
Director Ruben Fleischer is reportedly not returning for Venom 2.
In January, Variety confirmed that a sequel to Venom was officially in the works, with screenwriter Kelly Marcel returning to pen the feature. Discussing Film is now reporting that Fleischer will not return and that Sony Pictures is looking for a new director for the movie, which will reportedly start production in early November.
While this isn’t official, should Venom 2 start production in November as reported, it’s safe to presume Fleischer would still be tied up in post-production on the Zombieland sequel.
Venom stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Michelle Williams as Anne Weying will certainly be back with Woody Harrelson becoming an evil, red symbiote named Carnage.
The film, which was produced on a relatively modest budget compared to most superhero flicks, went on to earn an astounding $855.5 million at the global box office.
Venom 2 is set for theaters on October 2, 2020
