Director James Mangold likes the idea of an X-23 spin-off, ‘would love to see’
As Hugh Jackman appears to be ending his career as Wolverine in Logan, director James Mangold hints that a spin-off centering on Dafne Keen’s X-23 would be a great idea.
We Got This Covered quoted Mangold that on the X-23 character that’s introduced in the new film.
X-23 is played by Dafne Keen in Logan, and Mangold said that “I think Dafne is incredible in the film and I would love to see another film about that character and that’s certainly something I’d be involved in.”
He added that “for me that was one of the big additions I brought to the table, this decision to try to make the film about family and to try to insert Laura and the pressures that would put and the idea about Charles ailing”.
Fox hasn’t said anything to date about an X-23 spin-off, but a strong box office response would cement plans.
Joining Jackman will be Patrick Stewart, reprising his role as Professor X from the previous X-Men films.
Logan is set to be rated-R, full of profanity and violence. Keen has been confirmed to be central to the story, both in purpose with Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and in action, as Keen will become X-23.
Stephen Merchant is set to play Caliban with Richard E. Grant, Boyd Holbrook, Eriq La Salle, Elise Neal and Elizabeth Rodriguez.
Logan arrives March 3, 2017.
